Fake Anti Virus Program

Hello everyone and welcome to first of many blogs :)

The reason for this blog is to make you aware of a spyware that has been going around for some time now. Some of you might know what spyware means but for those who don’t here is the definition of it.

Spyware: Any software that covertly gathers information about a user (like yourselves) while he or she navigates the internet and transmits the information to an individual or company that uses it for marketing or other purposes.

One of the biggest spyware threats in my opinion are the ones listed down below. Please note that these are just a few they are probably hundred different versions out there.

1)AntiVirus Pro 2010
Photobucket

2)Windows Police Pro
Photobucket

3)AntiVirus Pro 2009
Photobucket

4)AntiVirus System Pro
Photobucket

5)Micro AntiVirus 2009
Photobucket

6)Windows AntiVirus 2008
Photobucket

What they do is that they disable the antivirus program that you already have on your computer. Hopefully you do have one installed. And not one of the free version one out there. They do not work and mess up your computer even more.

Once they disable your antivirus program. They will start to display a lot of error messages stating that your computer is at risk and will start to run a "Fake Scan" on your computer. The problem is that it looks like the real thing and the end user will actually thing there is something wrong. DONT be fooled by this. Another thing that it will do is it will say that in order to remove the threat you will have to purchase the antivirus program. People have been fooled into buying this program that does not work. All they did was give someone there credit card number and/or money.

To avoid this make sure your antivirus and spyware programs are up to date. Don’t go into websites you don’t know or if the web address looks fishy. If you suspect that what you can do is Google the website and see if it's legit or a scam.

If you happen to catch one of these they can be removed if they are caught early. If you wait too long to remove it then the chances dwindle.

Alot of the antivirus programs now a day’s come with spyware removal programs. If they don’t I recommend using "SPYBOT" it's free of charge and works well. You can download it from download.com.

If you have any questions you may leave me a comment on here or send me a message. I will gladly answer them to the best of my knowledge
